THE TRACKING SHEET / NEWEST FIRST

A fresh recording.

28 OCT · 17:55Feet on the groundLIVE NOW

Feet · Walking · Motel · Bridges

  • Your shoes no longer sink into the Sunset Motor Inn's stairs and upper walkway. Before, they sat up to a hand's width under the floor.
  • Everywhere else, the soles now rest right on the ground instead of a centimetre into it.
  • Walking and running no longer lose the odd step on flat ground, so you keep your full speed. It's most noticeable on fast (144 Hz) screens.
  • The motel stairs and the canal-bridge fix now work on every link, not just the plain one.
  • Try it: climb the motel stairs and stand on the walkway, walk and run along Main Street, and jump at a bridge's side rail. Tell us if the feet ever float, sink, or slide.
28 OCT · 17:00New title screen: Last Light

Title screen · Phone

  • The title screen is new: a new VHS & THC logo, and ten Bluntford scenes at dusk that slowly fade from one to the next behind a VCR overlay. The RV lot, Main Street, the motel, the canal, the diner and more.
  • All the buttons and options are where they were: Continue, New game, Load from a file, graphics and sound.
  • On phones, the Graphics and Sound buttons no longer cover the bottom of the controls list.
  • Prefer the old one? Add &title=0 to the link.
  • Try it: open the game on your computer and your phone, wait for a few scenes to change, and tell us if the logo or any text is hard to read on any of them.
28 OCT · 14:37New lighting: Bluntford's evenings get real

Lighting · Walking · Traffic

  • The whole town has new lighting. Afternoons are warmer, and the sun really goes down: from about 17:30 the light dims and turns golden, and by 19:30 it's proper evening.
  • Colours no longer look washed out, and shade on the shady side of the street looks like shade.
  • Night still uses the old street lights, windows and neon for now. New night lighting is coming next.
  • Tap-to-walk no longer gives up when you're squeezed against a car at a crossing, and cars stop braking for someone just standing beside them.
  • Try it: play from late afternoon into the evening on Greenthumb and Main Street, walk home past the traffic, and tell us if anywhere looks too dark, too orange, or flat.
28 OCT · 10:29Pager and ledger no longer break on old saves

Saves · Orders · Town

  • Some old saves held an order from a buyer the game no longer knows. After Continue, the pager and the ledger could stop working. They now open normally.
  • Finished orders now stay in your history every time you save and load. Before, a few could quietly vanish when a save was cleaned up.
  • If a finished order's meet spot no longer exists, the pager shows "SPOT GONE" for it instead of breaking.
  • The four town fixes from testing are now on for everyone: the falling-through fix, the kerb fix, the motel map and the landing fix.
  • The "orders cancelled" message shows once and goes away. It no longer repeats or carries over into a new game.
  • Try it: Continue an old save, open the pager and the ledger, finish an order, then save and reload. Tell us if anything in your history is missing, or if the pager or ledger misbehave.

A BLUNTFORD DOSSIER

The Gramfather

MENTOR. LANDLORD. QUESTIONABLE ADVICE.

He fronted your first seeds and owns the ground beneath your RV. A warm old crook with good instincts, bad advice and a rent reminder for every occasion. Gram’s wisdom arrives through the pager, phone and answering machine. It is usually worth listening to. Usually.

Always keep a quarter for the payphone. And a second quarter. For emotional support.
